This handsome boy is my Valentine. Cody is my sweet, brave, funny baby boy, but don't tell him I said that! Cody is always protecting me, thinking of me, hugging, smiling, and always yelling...."hi mom, I love you!"
Yesterday, Cody said the sweetest thing to me while we were all chatting at the dinner table. Riley asked everyone what time in history we would like to visit. We all stated different time periods in history, me 1800's, Riley Jurrasic, Kenley 1840, and Cody sat thinking for a moment then said, "I want to go back in time so I could come out of your tummy mom." Oh, my heart melted, but I knew the thing I had to do....I explained to Cody just how important his birth mom was to him and Heavenly Father needed it to be this way, but I was glad he came to me when he did. Yes, I missed those sweet baby years in his life, but I got him when he was a sweet 4- year-old.
Oh how Cody can talk you to pure craziness, but his love and innocence is so strong. This morning at 6:30, Cody handed me a Valentine. Now, Cody showed just how much of a man he is...."here mom, I got you this so we can watch a movie and eat them!" He handed me a small bag of chips...."we, I said," I think they are mostly for his little tummy!
When Cody was first introduced to us, as I have written before, he was pictured to us as a monster! This boy was diagnosed as Failure to Thrive, unable to learn, no communication, potty problems, but with a lot of love and patience this boy is still the size of a second grader at the age of 10, but boy does he have spirit! He can read, great at math, and athletic in that small body! Oh I love this boy of mine. I may not have had a date with Chris, or even received a Valentine from my dear husband....but Cody looks out for me. Heavenly Father has blessed me with amazing children!
Here is Cody when he first came to our home, he was then Sawyer.
