Today is Mother's Day. I am blessed to have 3 wonderful children, and 2 extended children from Foster care. Motherhood is a challenging and rewarding job, as many of you moms know! However, I wouldn't change my children, they each have their own personalities and attributes. One child is just like me and challenges every day, one child is my "good" kid, and then one is my "hand-full" child. I bet you can guess which child is which, but it changes everyday...they take turns.
Riley is my 9-year-old, and is an observer and thinker. Riley was adopted as a baby, and is well adjusted into our home. It is fun getting to know Riley as a young girl; she is so compassionate and cares so much for mankind. Riley loves school, but struggles with grasping some concepts in math, but reads well above her grade level. We are working on a wax museum report of Rosa Parks, and it is exciting learning with Riley about racism and the history of the Black people; she has many questions of why people treated Black people so poorly...she is a fascinating child.
Asalee is my 8-year-old, and she is a creative, smart, independent, strong-willed, stubborn child! Asalee is going to try my patience to no end, but her stubborn will, will get her far in life. This girl is smart, and thinks about everything, and asks about everything! Asalee will carry a dictionary around and study all day...then try to put me on the spot with trivia. Asalee came to our family just a year ago, and is still adjusting to our "groove," but she is getting it, and will hopefully soon feel part of our family, I hope. We are hoping to adopt Asalee in July.
Cody, my cutie, suave, flirtatious, 6-year-old is a smart little guy who knows how to work the system. Cody will hug you silly, and his laugh and smile will melt your heart...and infuriate you at the same time when he doesn't listen! Cody has been with us for about 3 years, and is mostly adjusted to our family...he still remembers his old life a little, but is so glad to be here with us, and we are glad he is here. When we were blessed with Cody, we were told he would never amount to anything...but this kid is one of the smartest kids in his class, and is so athletic, and funny. Cody is a mama's boy. Full boy...smell and all.
My previous Foster kids are doing great, and I am still in contact with them, and I am so happy things worked out with their parents...we are even planning a play-date soon.
I love all my kids, and I hope I am doing a good job being their mom...sometimes, I think I fail at meeting their little needs, but I am trying. My kids teach me so much everyday.
Thanks to my Heavenly Father for trusting me with my kids.

And you forgot to mention that they are all completely gorgeous! I love your kids so much. You described them to a tee. I'm glad I know them. You are a great mom and so deserving of this mothers day!
