Happy Halloween! Halloween is so much fun, I love getting the kids ready for trick-or-treating, the excitement of going out into the neighborhood and seeing all the fun kids! Chris and I have some traditions for Halloween...if Halloween falls on a Saturday we let the kids have a friend Halloween party to help pass the day away, but this year it was on a weekday, so no party.
This year was a little different for me, since money was getting tight, I have tried my hardest to find odds and end jobs to meet the gap. My friend from High School was managing Halloween City in Orem, so she gave me a job, I started in September. The job was easy enough, okay, too easy, but it was money. I mostly worked nights and weekends, late nights and weekends, the times nobody wants to work! My last day was October 30, so I was able to spend the night of Halloween with the kids; I was so grateful, it helped to have a friend as the boss.
Since I worked at a Halloween store, I got the kids costumes at a great price, and I even got Chris a cape that he has wanted since he was young! Cody was going as Darth Vader, and Riley wanted something different than anyone else....Twister game! Chris went as a vampire, and I was a monkey.
Halloween night came, and I forgot that I needed rolls to go with the clam chowder that we make every Halloween night. So, I dragged Riley to the store with me to get rolls. Lehi Main Street had been under construction for a very long time, and traffic was diverted here and there down back streets. Riley and I were sitting at the stop sign waiting for a car to go by when all of a sudden a giant jolt hit the back of the truck! The truck actually was pushed into the intersection. My truck is heavy duty, metal, so the brunt of it was taken well. Riley was a bit shaken up. I was mad that my truck that has never been in an accident for 16 years, was now damaged because of this man not paying attention when I was stopped! I got out and talked to the guy, and Riley said she was inside the truck praying when I was talking to him. We exchanged numbers and info, and we left, hoping the dude was honest!
So, here is my little truck, the tail-gate won't open until I can get the insurance to fix it, and it has now officially been in a wreck! Way to start off Halloween! This was no treat----it was no trick----it was horrible!
So, after we ate our clam chowder, and ROLLS, we took the kids trick-or-treating. Here are the kids on our porch. Cody was so excited! He hadn't been trick-or-treating since he was a baby.
Here is my "blind" vampire. I had to hold his hand all night so he didn't wander away (or fall off the curb)! Some vampire! He couldn't get your blood if he tried...
Cody's first trick-or-treat!
