First Bus Ride and Snow!?! November 2011

November was here, and that meant winter was on it's way...or so we thought. Cody started preschool in October, but didn't start riding the "big yellow" bus until November. Here are some pictures of  the exciting day he was able to ride the bus...finally!

Saturday, six am, I was sleeping peacefully in my bed, when I was awoken by an excited 8-year-old. "Mom, can I go outside and play in the snow?" My reply was, "no, go back to bed, it is too early!"

Eight am, same morning, "mom, can I go outside and play in the snow now?" "NO!"

Finally, breakfast was over, and the kids were READY to play in the first snowfall of the year! The kids bundled up, and we ran outside to play! Little, did we know, this would be one of only a handful of snow days this winter. Wow.

Cody's first snowball fight. I got them good, of course!

My friend Angela and Jake gave the kids these massive pumpkins for Halloween, and I like to save them for my turkey for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving in my favorite holiday, because I love the feeling I get being with my mom...cooking and showing Riley the traditions that I grew up with. I love traditions, they keep memories and the memories of people that have passed them down alive! Some people hate cooking all day, but I love the feeling of preparing a delicious meal for my family...it is my way of showing them how much I love them. I love the smells, the feelings, the conversations, the way that we can get together one day out of the year and forget all of the heartache that may pass between each other. I love Thanksgiving, I fear that it is being forgotten....Christmas and Halloween are smashing Thanksgiving right out of its place. Families, isn't that what it is all about, right?
