Okay, so I haven't posted for about 2 months. I have had a few people ask me why I haven't posted...well, I was having a blast with Riley and was SO busy! Now that school is back in session, I have a minute to blog. I just thought that I would stop and write about something Riley told me yesterday...and it is one of those things that make everything all better, and everything worth it!
Since school has been in, we are really trying to stick to a routine in the morning so we are not LATE! It has been working great...I get up with Chris at 5:45, fix him breakfast and pack his lunch, then I get the "bug" up and fix her breakfast and pack her lunch at 7. Then, it is off to shower and get dressed for the day...and out the door by 8:35; we will see if this continues, but I think it will.
Anyway, yesterday morning Riley was a sleepy-head and I was sitting with her on her bed and she said, "can I have the new cereal today?" You see, we have a rule in our house, the old cereal needs to be eaten before the new cereal....I guess I was feeling kind, cause I said, "sure."
Riley jumps out of bed and hugs me and says, "your the best mom in the whole world!" Well, that did make my heart feel good, but I have heard this before (when she gets what she wants).
Anyways, we were getting ready for school and the alarm went off for us to head to the bus stop, and Riley was still in the process of making her bed (yes, new rule: bed must be made before we go to school). Well, I could see the panic in her eyes as she heard the alarm and looked at her bed half made. I could tell she was really trying to do her best, so I said, "come on, lets go, I will finish your bed for you later." She did the cutest thing, she simply looked up at me and said, "see...that is why you are the best mom in the whole world!"
I love her, brown nose and all (but Riley would tease, "my nose is already brown!")...but it made my day, and made everything worth it.
I will try and post again soon...I have much to catch up on! I also have to make sure to keep Amy updated (she is now living in West Virginia and now reads my blog!) Yeah!
