Adoption Update....

Overwhelmed, that is a good word to describe how I felt by the love and concern that all of our friends and family have expressed towards the news that we may pursue adoption, once again. Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers, and support. We love all of you, and feel so fortunate to have you all in our lives!

Well, we have been looking into the lawyer, to see if this is "real," first of all...things seem to be on the up. We need to become an official client of the lawyer (paper stuff), and then we need to become approved, which you have to do in any adoption...which includes home study, background checks, and medicals and such. Then, we get to pick or be picked with a birth mother...all situations are different. Right now, the lawyer has around 7 women who are pregnant. Yes, all these children are African American (times are tough, and sad to say people do not adopt AA children like they do Caucasian children). However, we love all children, a spirit is a spirit in my eyes. If God so sees fit for me to take care of any of His beloved children...I consider it an honor.

After we are matched in a good situation, we then proceed with waiting and getting things in order for adoption...and birth. After the child is born, we then will travel to pick up the child and stay where the child is born for up to 10 days until the child can be brought to our home.

Then, if all goes well, the child can be adopted legally in our home state  6 months after the child is put in our welcoming arms! Riley's finalization was so emotional and I will NEVER forget when the judge said that Riley was now ours....and then later in the temple forever.

The adoption is going to cost more than we have saved, but we are hopeful that we can work and I know that the Lord will provide a way if this is meant to be...I have faith in that. We will be having a garage sale in the spring when it is warm enough to have one...thanks to Becky she has already donated some items (or is she wanting me to store stuff?) Erica, I cried when I received your letter...you truly are an angel. Your love knows no bounds! I hope I can be like you when I grow up! Thank you so much. Plus, thanks to all of you for your offer to help bake for a bake sale, look into options of any kind...you are all so great.

We are hoping this adoption goes smooth and fast....I can't wait to have a little cry in my home, once again. I love you all! Thanks for your uplifting, and amazing spirits...someday I hope I can be to same to you!

We will keep you updated.....

  1. Happy Easter, Brook! You are so amazing with your patience and willingness to care for any child. If I were there, I would do all that I could to make sure you end up with another of our Heavenly Father's spirits. I have faith that one will make its way to your home soon. Once again, if you can think of anything I can do from a far, let me know. My mom makes beautiful quilts, I could see if she would be willing to make one so you could sell it. Ones she has made for drawings in the past of brought in over a thousand dollars. Let me know! Once again, you are a kindred spirit Brook.
