Why we don't talk about that at the table....

Sometimes as a parent, I find myself thinking..."why do I have to do this?" Please make this moment go away!

Riley is a great kid, she has a wonderful sense of humor, and loves to make people laugh...and as I have stated before, "this is going to come back to haunt me when she is older!"  One of those moments came Saturday afternoon in front of a nice lunch with my cousin and her cute little family. Of course...moments like this always happen in public, in front of people. Why? I guess it is revenge for humiliating our parents, and so on, and so on.

Lunch was going great, we were all laughing and having a great time....and all of a sudden I hear, "I am gonna kick you in the winnie!" Yes...it came from Riley.

Did I hear her right? NO! I don't want her to know what a winnie is yet...let alone thinking about and saying "winnie!" I just learned what a winnie is last year! Ha. Not my precious little girl! It was shocking to hear such a disgusting word come out of my sweet little girl's perfect, innocent little mouth.

Needless to say, I had to sit down with my 5-year-old, at bedtime, after a cute little bug story, and discuss what a winnie was and why we do not kick them....even though as a grown woman you sometimes may feel like kicking "it!"  However, I will save that conversation for her wedding night....or before she leaves for college. Ha. Sorry boys.

So...I made it through the winnie conversation....what is next? I don't want to know....let me recover from this one first.

  1. "Winnie," I think I may have heard of that! At least you handled it well. My son is turning 11 in May. We have the maturation program to look forward to this year. However I hear it has changed since I was there. Dave gets that one! It is the agreement, he gets the boys, I get the girls!

  4. That was great...even though I didn't hear it when she said it and me, Jason, and Chris were all looking at each other whispering "what'd she say?". Funny funny stuff!
