Okay, I may have major hate mail when I awake to my e-mail, but I have to be honest! I love the Twilight books and I wish there were more books in the series to keep me up at night dreaming of Edward and Bella and their many dangerous adventures! However, I finally got to go see the much anticipated movie....Twilight, and I feel let down. Maybe, I heard how much everyone loved it, and my expectations were too high....you know how that goes.
We met Becky and Ari...yes, my third date with Chris this week (more dates than we have had in our whole marriage) at the theater this morning. Becky is so funny...she is so loud and I love it! Edward..Edward..Edward is all she could chant at the beginning of the movie. She cracks me up. Again, I feel like a teenager with her everytime I hang out with her. Ha. It was so fun hanging out with our hubbies and getting to experience our secret love affair of vampires with them....okay, a little weird watching my crush Edward with my husband sitting next to me. I had a hand to hold and I felt young all over again.
The movie was good, but not fabulous. The characters didn't match for me...Jasper, Alice, Dr. Cullen, Bella, and Esme were about the only ones that did kinda match. I didn't think Rob P. was the "perfect" Edward, but he is a cutie, and I can't complain that the movie was not just fun to watch. However, Jasper was spot on! Cute..cute..cute.
I felt that the characters were not portrayed as they were in the books...in fact, kind of boring. Jasper in the book is so deep, and Esme was so much more loving in the book. Even the human characters were very shallow...Charlie, Jacob, Billy, Mike, and Jessica. I know...I know you can't do the whole book in 90 minutes, but they barely skimmed the surface of the characters. I felt that the love between Edward and Bella was only portrayed as sexual, not that "great" bond they have. Plus, the fight scene was way to short! James was a whimp...he tracked Bella for about 2 minutes, tricked her into getting her to the studio, Edward suddenly appeared kicked James' butt for a whole 23.3 seconds...prom...movie over.
Oh man, I can hear the many women chanting my name..."kill Brook....kill Brook" Oh well, my Edward and Bella will always be best in my head, tucked away for me to recall anytime I want. Don't get me wrong...the movie is fun, and I will buy it when it comes to DVD, but the best movie version is my own.
Maybe Eclipse will be better.....we will have to see.
P.S. For those of you that now hate me...my e-mail has changed to killbrook@twilight.com. Ha.
I agree that the books are 100% better. I liked the movie but it didn't do for me what the books did. So not "Kill Brook" for me.
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED the movie, but I respect everyones opinion about it too!
I am so glad you like Jasper cuz he's my fave! Have you seen my corkboard on FaceBook? It is all Jasper :0)
I still love you Brook, no killing for me!!
Did the guys go see it too? or did they sneak over to the James Bond flick?
I liked the movie, but I agree with you the books are way better. Although I didn't really care for Jasper, he didn't meet up to what I was expecting him to be, although the guy who played him is cute. I will buy the movie also. So "not kill Brook" for me also. On a side note, I think we are planning on Saturday the 20 to do gingerbread houses. I sent you an e-mail.
ReplyDeleteSo can I just say this...I have not got into the whole Twilight phase and I really don't know anything about it? I kinda feel like I'm missing out! (oh ya and if you didn't know I can get back into your blog.) I kinda feel the same way about Harry Potter. I don't dare say anything because everyone is in love with it but it was pure tourture watching the first one and the second one I rented and turned it off less then half way through. I should be safe now to say that I think that craze has ran its course! Good Luck to ya! I know the fear.
