Christmas 2008...story to the pictures.

This year was a fun Christmas, and I hope the same for all of you. Usually, Chris and I don't get big items for each other, but we went a little "more" this year. Chris, my mom and dad got me a great new camera! I am so excited to use it. I love photography and I hope to take some awesome pictures with it for you to see! Hopefully, Courtney and I are going to take a photography class together...I can't wait.

Chris was really bummed out this year...I totally played his present down; I kept on saying that I didn't know what to get him...blah, blah, blah...and I didn't have time to get anything, but the topper was I told him that Ari (his friend) was getting a Wii for Christmas. Boy, was Chris upset when he heard that (boys and their competitions). Anyway, I had the Wii 2 months before Christmas and it was so hard to keep Riley from "leaking" the surprise. Even Becky and Ari were in on the surprise...Becky kept bringing up the fact that he had gotten me such an awesome camera and he wasn't getting a gift near that good from me. Thanks Becky. Well, Christmas Day we waited till Riley was all done looking at what Santa had brought her, I was playing with my new camera, and Chris had...hehehe opened his nose trimmer (boy did he look depressed...I was lovin' it!) Then, Riley said, "look Dad, one for you!" Chris litterally screamed (yes, his high scream) and jumped from off the couch about 2 inches! He was like a kid in a candy store when he opened his Wii.

Riley enjoyed her new doll house and for some reason the scarf and ear muffs she really wanted...were a huge hit! Go figure a scarf..... She is an amazing little girl, and astonishes me everyday. On Christmas Day, after all was said and done....Chris and I had a little talk with her about the real meaning of Christmas, again, and she simply said, "why can't the homeless people just move in with us? They can sleep in my room, and play with my toys." I love her....I pray she will grow and change this world someday. In fact, I know she will.

We were so blessed to have a good Christmas this year, and we recognize that many good people were not as fortunate as we were....missing family, homeless, hungry, and alone this holiday season. We have our health, family, and friends. Thank goodness. We enjoyed some great times with family and friends. We really enjoyed doing Gingerbread houses with Chris' family, visiting with my mom and dad about old times (for Christmas I gave each grandparent a personalize book, and my dad's was about all his old hunting days), Riley loosing her first tooth on the 22nd (the toothfairy left a candy cane) and crying because she was not sure how she would eat without teeth, sledding with Becky and Olivia for their first times, visiting the lights with my cousin and her family, and mostly just spending time with each other.

The greatest gift of all, of course, is the knowledge of a loving Heavenly Father, and that of our Savior, Jesus Christ born in a humble stable in Bethlehem so that ALL mankind....no matter who they are, can have the chance to return to a loving Heavenly Father; how lonely my life would be without this simple, yet powerful, knowledge. May you all be blessed this coming year. I love and appreciate all of you...you have made me who I am, without you....who would I be?

We cannot take all these earthly gifts that we received this Christmas with us when we die, but we can take the memories....awesome memories. I hope that all of YOU will be in them.
