Well, Black Friday is approaching, and yes, Chris and I are crazy enough to stand in line at 1:00 am to get that screamin' deal. Yes, we pay for those deals twice, once with money, twice with no sleep. However, it is a fun tradition that Chris and I enjoy together (we feel like we are on a adventurous, weird, cold, date, with thousands of our closest friends, or foe, depending upon the store or deal). It all starts on Thanksgiving night, we search the ads for the things we want to get (and avoid). Walmart, we NEVER go to Walmart! Walmartians are crazy! Mostly, since I am a computer geek, we head to those type of stores.....those are great deals. However, I have realized I now have to fight for the toy deals because Riley is getting into the more expensive items (what am I thinking?)
Hopefully, you will not see me on the 10 O' Clock news with a piece of Elmo's head in one hand and another woman's head of hair in another....or, me running through the doors of Target with mouth open, screaming, hair flying behind me, and knocking over an old woman with my cart, cause no one touches "my" little girls doll house, to be. Maybe, just maybe, you will see me frozen to the sidewalk in a tragic 2 a.m. morning freeze that the weatherman just didn't predict. However, this year, I am taking my portable gas stove to fix breakfast for our 4-hour wait in the Kohl's line....but darn it, I got that Barbie for 3 bucks!
For those of you that are thinking Chris and I torture our 5-year-old to do this tradition....no, Grandma T takes her overnight in exchange for us getting her what she needs at the store. Is that a deal or not, I can't tell? No really, Chris and I are pretty low-key, we just pick the few things we want and stick to that line (yes, Kohl's was 2 hours last year, and we did save a bunch). Anyway, I wanted to wish you all a great Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
Here is a link to a sneek peek into the ads for Friday......that way you can plan what types of rations and camping gear you might need for Friday (or Thursday at midnight).
