Round-Up Week:
It was so much fun this year. Becky and I decided we would go to as many activites as we could possibly squeeze in! We ended up doing so much, I think we were both ready for the week to be over...but the girls loved every part of it! We did all kinds of things like, a magic show, bird show, Native American dancing show, and even the street parties. Oh yeah, and not to mention all the parades and of course, the rodeo. I have been going to Round-Up week my whole life, and I really enjoyed myself this time. It was so much fun hanging out with Becky, Olivia, and Caroline, and I was grateful that Riley could experience all of this with Olivia. Not to mention, I think I had as much fun as I could have possibly had, at the Native American dancing show....thanks to Becky (inside joke).
It was fun when Chris was finally able to join in on the festivities when Thursday came around. We went to the Stock parade, which is an all horse parade. Then, Saturday was the BIG day, the day we were all waiting for....first the minitature parade and then the rodeo. The parade was fun, but hot. My very thoughtful husband ended up going into work early that morning, but still managed to bring us all breakfast at the parade. Thanks Chris! Finally it was rodeo time...as Riley says everytime we pass the rodeo grounds, "we are going to the RADIO!"
When I was a teenager, I went on a date to the rodeo, and we had the best seats. Ever since then, I always sit there...and now with my family. Riley loves the rodeo, and I am so grateful that she gets to experience the same kind of community (even though Lehi is now overcrowded) that I did when I was her age. Every year, she gets so excited to go see the "jumping cows," clowns, and the princesses on horses. This year, the Flash Basketball Fox came up to Riley and picked her up and put her on his shoulders.
I am so proud of my heritage and community, and love to experience Round-Up week with my daughter, like my parents did with me and my siblings. We cannot wait until next year!
