Chris, Riley, and I went to the "The Greatest Show on Earth," today. It was a lot of fun. We rode the Trax train from Sandy to the Energy Solutions Arena, which is great fun to a young child in itself. Chris and I enjoyed being able to actually talk and look at one another while on the train. It was a relaxing ride.
We made our way up to the doors of the Arena. My little pack of "essestials" that I brought with us, was well....confiscated. The grapes I brought with us, did look VERY threatening! Fortunately, the young man who insisted I throw away my "questionable" items (2 Capri Suns, a bag of grapes, dried fruit, 2 pumpkin cookies, and 1 water bottle), did let me save the bottled water for my 5-year-old. Little did the young man know, but I only threw away the grapes. Throw me in jail. I just couldn't let my 5-year-old starve. Is that bad?
We then made our way through the throng of people buying goodies for their children. Chris was not immune; he loves to spoil Riley. I love it. I was able to stop him from buying the most expensive thing there, however (I disctracted him with Popcorn!) We ended up buying Riley a little bag of cotton candy (her first time ever), which came with a cute little clown hat. Poor Riley, her hair is bigger than most adult heads, so Chris ended up getting her another hat that fit her, he felt bad the first hat didn't fit. I love that he wants the best for her, every little girl should have a father like that.
The Circus was great. It was Chris and Riley's first time at a Circus, and I loved watching both of their faces with each new amazing act. Chris' eyes actually got really big with some of the more daring acts....the motorcycles and tigers. I love that Chris can be such a kid sometimes, especially when he experiences new things he has never done or seen before. Riley loved the clowns. Riley can be so witty at times; and really got into the whole "act" the clowns were performing. The thing Riley loved the most was, as she states, "the time the clown said he was waiting for the bus to go to the Circus....and he was already at the Circus!" She is so funny. Watch out Jay Leno! My favorite part was the funny clowns....like mother, like daughter. The flying motorcycle was cool too!
It was great to spend the day with my family, and forget about life! The last thing Riley uttered this evening before bed was, "when are we going back to the Circus?"
Wow! It sounds like you really did see the best show on earth and had the best time on earth! What an exciting time for the family.
