Utah State Fair...

Well, Chris and I decided to take out a small loan and head to the Utah State Fair. Maybe I am just cheap, but I think the prices were outrageous! Thank goodness my brother gave me 4 free tickets to get in, or that would have been an even more costly adventure!

We decided to go with my Sister-in-law Courtney and her little family. It was so much fun spending time with Brandsen and Taylor, my nephew and niece. Riley loves her cousins, and I am grateful that they are both so close to her age, especially Brandsen. Riley and Brandsen get along so well, and Taylor is so sweet to Riley, and is always hugging and loving Riley. We do not get to spend a lot of time with Courtney and her family, and it was great to do something with them. We need to do it more often!

Well, after I fainted from the prices of the rides. We decided that we would let the kids go on about 5 rides. The cost was $25 for 30 tickets, and most rides took 3-5 tickets! Crazy. Thank goodness the "little rides" only took 3 tickets. It was great though, and the kids loved them so much. It was great to hear their little screams and yells of joy. They went on a twist dragon ride, a hot air balloon type ride, train ride, helicopter ride, and of course, the merry-go-round. Riley loved riding with Brandsen, and I was grateful that he was there to go with her.

Here are some pictures of the rides:

After the rides, we decided to go to the animal exhibit, but most of the animals had gone home. It was the last day of the fair and most of the animals were packed up and had moved on. We did see a "giant" steer that was taller than Chris, and the kids did get to see some piglets with their mother; it was cute. Riley loved petting the cows, that was until she found a present that a cow had left on her shoe. She simply stated, "why don't those cows watch where they poop."
We started to get hungry, and decided that the kids were getting a little cranky (I didn't want another Bear incident). Chris went and looked for the cheapest thing around. Well, the $4.50 corn dog, just didn't sound like a good deal. A box of corn dogs in the grocery store doesn't even cost that much! Again, crazy! We decided to share a $3.50 bag of popcorn, and fortunately I brought water and "kiddie snacks." Needless, to say, we ate outside of the fair for half the price. It looks like I will be packing a lunch next time.
Chris and I decided that we wanted to look around at the booths. We saw everything from a knife that cut through a tire and slice your peaches without bruising. Hmmm....could come in handy while changing a tire and eating a peach. We also saw blenders that made salsa in 3 seconds. Somehow, that seems a little too fast. Oh yeah, I was able to have my ring cleaned with an amazing cleaner....now my finger is green. Just kidding. I am just teasing. The fair is, and always will be great fun. You get to see all kinds of things you won't see anywhere else. Just make sure you get that home equity line of credit, prior to your visit.
Here is the cutest bunch of carrots at the fair! Riley, Brandsen, and Taylor.

  1. looks like you had a lot of fun. And yes the fair is expensive but as long as you have fun that is what counts.
