When Heavenly Father invented friends, he was just inventing another form of family. Friends are there through thick and thin, laughter and heartache, and when there is just nothing else to say. Our friends are meant just for us.
When Heavenly Father was picking my friends, he sure did pick from the best of crops. Today, I was grateful to spend the day with two of my best friends. One friend, I have known since I was 12, and she is the sweetest, kindest person I know. The other friend, I have only known for a little over a year, but she makes me a better person everyday, just by knowing her. What did I do to deserve that?
Trudy, whom I have known since I was 12, asked me to come and spend the day with her and her family. Her family was doing their yearly canning; pears, today. What a joy it was to be included in such an event! My parents only had 3 children, and we are not that close. Trudy's family is huge! I love to sit and listen to how they speak to each other. They respect and love each other so much. They talk about things that families should talk about. RaFawn, Trudy's mom, is such a good example to her kids, and is constantly teaching them. I envy Trudy and her family. Thanks for letting me be a part of it. Trudy, you are like a sister to me, and I thank Heavenly Father for that day in 7th grade English when I made you laugh, because I don't know what I would do without you now.
If that wasn't enough, I still got to spend the rest of my afternoon with Becky. We were going over to my parents' home to pick the garden, and go to the Craft show afterwards with my mom. Becky makes me feel like a teenager again. I am always laughing and forgetting about life when I am around her....I love it. Becky gets me to push myself, and believe it or not, she makes me feel like I am important. When Chris and I came back up north, we really struggled with the ward, but Becky and her husband Ari have been a great blessing to us. Becky, you are also like a sister to me. I thank my Heavenly Father for you in my life....and Riley's.
By no means am I meaning to exclude any of you...Sara, whom I will miss terribly since you moved. You and I have always been able to talk to each other about anything. You are such a great mom and friend and I love you to death. Angela, whom I have known since I was wearing training pants, and has probably seen me at my worst! You know that you will always be my sister. Rebecca, you also have known me since the earth was formed. Ha. I hope we can always keep in touch. You are a great person (thanks for taking care of my sis).Plus, all my new friends that I have made just in the last couple years. Every friend I have impacts my life, and I don't know what I would do without any of you.
P.S. I hope family members know they included in my "friend" category! Love you all!

Brook,
ReplyDeleteI love you! Thank you for your heart-felt words. I feel the same way... you are like a sister to me. Your blogs are wonderful. They made me cry- and then they made me laugh out loud! I will definitely be dropping in more often. Thank you for being in my life, (and for helping with pears- obviously only a true friend does this!) By the way, your writing is to be envied. Keep it up- you have a gift. Love, Trudy
Brook,
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing! I love reading your blog. You will always be one of my best friends, even though we may not talk or see each other that often you will always have a place in my heart. What a lucky person you are to be able to spend time with the great Rogers' family. What great examples they are of family unity. I love your sis to death. I just wish things were better for her. I will do what ever I can to help her and keep you informed. Thanks for being a forever friend. Love ya!
Rebecca
